Chores done without the fight

Chores done without the fight

The Chore Wars: those constant battles of trying to get your children to do chores and yet keeping peace in the house? Is it possible to have both?

You work hard all day and then come home to a dirty house and your child is sitting in front of the t.v.
They say, ‘hey, I’ve been to school all day.
Really, and you think I have been sitting in my office all day eating bonbon?

Or you are a stay-at-home mom, and your kids don’t think you work hard so you should clean up. They shouldn’t have to do chores.
Really, because you haven’t spent all day just scrubbing floors, or bathrooms, cooking dinners, grocery shopping, changing diapers, running after little ones ensuring they are not touching things they should. Or for the older children driving them here, there and everywhere.  Right? You do nothing but sit at home watching Netflix and eating bonbons.

And so, it begins. Miscommunication is innate in every family.
Children thinking you are asking too much of them and that you don’t do much at all in your day.

You are frustrated with your children because all you have asked them to do is clean their room.  Or pick up their own dishes or put the shoes and backpack away when they get home. These simple little chores seem so hard to teach them and it causes tension and daily fighting in the home. Making it so you dread leaving work.

  • Is there a better way?
  • Can you calm the chaos that comes into the home when you ask your kids to do a chore?
  • How do you get your kids to do chores?

Teaching our children to Cope with Bullies

Teaching our children to Cope with Bullies

Did you know that so many are trying to teach their children how to cope with bullies, but you might be raising one?

How you talk around your children, how you judge others might be enough for your child to assume it is okay to make fun of others that are different.
We need to be careful about how we talk about others when around our children.

If you are struggling right now with you or your child being bullied, watch Joanne’s story and see how she coped.  Then continue watching as she teaches you not only how to cope but helps you understand how our unintentional words can cause our children to also become bullies.  Joanne has some very helpful tips due to a lot of experience. She is a mom who has been bullied quite a lot of her life and is now also dealing with it for her child.

I think we have all had to deal with a bully at least once in our life. but let’s also not be the reason for allowing our children to be bullies.  Our words, our actions, our judgments are being watched every day. We are the example that our children follow. So be a good one. Think about what you are saying within earshot of your children. Think about what you are doing in front of your children. Understand that your actions will be followed closely by your children.

Where is my Child’s Manual

Where is my Child’s Manual

You have said it and heard others say it a million times.
“Parenting would be so much easier if our kids came with a manual’.
But stop and think about that statement and tell me, what would have learned if they did come with a manual?
We need to discover who are children are, what makes them tick, what causes them joy and or pain.
We need to learn that all kids are not the same. They all think differently, they all learn differently, and they all need different things from us as their parents.

Discovering who your child is: what makes them tick, what makes them happy or sad,  is the biggest job and best job in the world. If we had a manual, it would take most of the learning out of the equation.
Now, what fun would that be?

Intact Vrs Circumcision Pro’s and Con’s Part 2

Why do people get so upset when you mention Circumcision.

This show is just about educating on different subjects, and so the subject of circumcision has to be one of them.
Let’s stop pointing fingers and get down to what is important, and that is parenting to the best of our ability.

I don’t care if you did, or did not circumcise your son, it is your business, not mine!!
No shaming allowed!

Even though my guest speaker is very clear in her opinion, she doesn’t believe in shaming either way.

So let’s get a discussion going. Why do you think you should or should not circumcise?  Both of my guest speakers are willing to answer your questions and or give reasons for why they have made statements on these videos, so please leave comments.

Or if you believe the opposite of these guests, please tell us why and if you are an expert on the subject, we would love to have you on the show.   Leave your comments and contact info and I will contact you as soon as I can.

Bullies: Its not just the kids

Bullies: Its not just the kids

An interesting story took place in a restaurant. The parents are allowing me to tell the story here to make a few points.

None of us have a right to bully other people.  We get angry when we see kids bullying other kids, but we should also get angry when we see adults bullying other adults as well.
Define Bullies: a person who uses strength or power to harm or intimidate

You watch someone else parent and see all the mistakes they are making.

What should you do about it?

Do we have a right to step in and criticize another parent for not parenting the way ‘we think’ is best?
